Semi-Final Brooches

I have to change the pins on the brooches to make them more cohesive with each piece.

Another process shot for my brooches. I am satisified with my development so far. Just have to keep trucking through to the end. You have to suffer for your art, if you truly love it.

Burchfield Lecture

I attended a very inspirational lecture at the Burchfield Penney last night. Sunwha Kim discussed her work and philosophy on life. It is rare to know someone who lives each day with such optimism and enthusiasm. Her appetite for life is refreshing and it is directly refelected in her work. I am lucky to be taking a class with someone who has this great outlook on life.

Brooche Project Process Shot

I am exporing surface quality this semester. The form in the picture is the base for the texture and color I will be adding shortly. It is going to be a part of a series of three brooches that show transformation. Excited to see where this takes me.

I am extremely worried about meeting the deadline for the exhibition in motion project. I am going to spend as much time in the studio before the deadline. I am making good progress, but I am still nervous. It is a big first project with a lot of new techniques being used. I will have it done! I have never missed a deadline and don't plan on it.
Last week a formed my acrylic into the shape I desired. I used the heat gun and a bowl a water. When the acrylic started to slump to far I put it into the cold water to stop it. It actually worked very well. I am pleased with the results, the texture I added to it works very well.
